The topmost problems affecting the tertiary education sector in Liberia, of which the College of Natural Sciences is no exception, are the complex set of challenges related to rebuilding and recovery from civil war, constrained national finances, poor infrastructure, the Ebola epidemic, and the Covid-19 pandemic. These include poor learning outcomes and inadequate science laboratories.
With this in mind, the College is ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education for all students — getting them more interested in learning and expanding their horizons. This has increased their efficiency, innovation and productivity, and sharpened the critical thinking skills that are the basis for analytic reasoning. Higher education is a gateway to developing sound and productive human resources for any nation, and a driving tool for economic stability and sustainable peace.
